A Downtown Kansas City October Wedding at the Bardot
If you don’t know Kaitlin… she is a phenomenal hairstylist at the Glam Room in River Market. When she asked me after her (now) husband Grant had proposed to her about my wedding photography offerings- I was so excited. On that October day of their engagement shoot… it was cold, misty and cloudy. And on their October wedding day a year later.. it wasn’t cold… but there was rain in the forecast and absolutely gorgeous overcast skies. When I arrived at her dad’s house to begin my day- I couldn’t believe how absolutely perfect everything was. From the giant island breakfast bar crafted by one of her colleagues to the beautiful wrap around porch at her dad’s home. Every aspect of that morning was like a magazine.
From the first look with Grant to her first look with her dad. Kaitlin had this beautiful glow about her. As the bridal party boarded their bus to downtown the clouds opened up and the rain started. However… downtown it was still not raining. Kaitlin and Grant were set on having her ceremony on the rooftop of the Bardot in downtown with the skyline behind her. Wildhill Flowers had setup the most beautiful archway at the end of the aisle. There was some dialogue about how to approach their ceremony because of the rain in the forecast… However… her colleagues from the Glam Room were willing to sit through whatever the weather was going to be… after all it was Kaitlin and Grant’s day. One of my favorite photos comes from her colleagues and friends using their programs as umbrellas.
As their ceremony started and the rain was lightly falling Kaitlin started her walk down the aisle as as soon as she turned that corner the rain stopped and the sun came out. It was by far one of the most magical aisle walks I have ever witnessed.
side note: Many brides often worry about the weather on their wedding day.. especially if it is an outdoor ceremony. I personally keep between 10-12 white umbrellas in my car’s truck on wedding days. You never know when you might need it. Plus.. it makes it possible to still get those beautiful outdoor photos you always want.
Their choice to have their ceremony and reception in October in Downtown Kansas City at the Bardot was absolutely the best choice. The environment is one that is classy and elegant meets that urban vibe of the city. Between their ceremony and reception- their guests headed off to the basement for cocktail hour- while Kaitlin, Grant and their bridal party and family captured photos with the skyline on the rooftop deck. The venue itself is incredibly well thought out. It provided various stages for their guests to move through. Which made everything from the ceremony to the end of the night’s confetti canon send off flow so beautifully.
If you haven’t been to the Bardot you have to know that it has this stellar chandelier classy meets industrial vibe. It offers that alternate themes that you don’t often experience in Kansas City. As the reception began every inch of the evening was absolutely fabulous. from the DJ to the late night snacks from PB & J Catering to the delicious cake from McLain’s Bakery and of course the coordination from Soiree Event Designs. This is one wedding that I will never forget..( I haven’t forgot one yet.. but ya know…)
