What to Wear for Your Fall Family Photo Session

Fall Family Photos are fast approaching and if you are like me you are always scrambling to put together outfits for your entire family or you simply don't even know where to begin. I can tell you from personal experience styling your photos can be overwhelming if you don’t know where to begin. For all of my family photos, I always lay out 3 different choices and edit it down from there.

Deciding what family photo outfits to wear can be just as challenging as finding the perfect photographer. These are photos you are going to hang on your walls and cherish for years to come. It can seem overwhelming when considering what to wear but it doesn’t need to be.

Whether you are looking for fall family photo outfits or beach family picture outfits use these tips to help you pick out the perfect outfits for you and your family.

Below are a few ideas to help get you excited for your upcoming sessions.

4 TIPS ON WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR FALL PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

  1. Wear what you know and you feel comfortable in. Don’t forget to make sure they suit you as an individual. I personally don’t recommend trying something new right before pictures. No new haircuts or new drastic changes in your attire.. you don’t want to look back and go. YIKES, what was I thinking?

  2. Wear comfortable shoes! Or at the very least wear your comfortable shoes to your session and then change. Also.. make sure they go with your outfits.. yes even your socks if your shoes warrant it. Even if you don’t think your feet will be seen.. more than likely they probably will.

  3. Layers are your BEST FRIEND. In the midwest in the fall.. one minute it can be 90 degrees and the 35 the next. I always bring a coat/jacket, that can double as a prop with me when my family is getting their photos taken. It has been a lifesaver.. especially if the weather shifts on a dime.

  4. Colors. Select those deep fall-inspired hues of blues, oranges, reds, and burgundy. They always look great in the crisp autumn air and that beautiful autumn glow. Neons just simply don’t work in the autumn color palette.
