I first met Lindsay through a fellow photographer/friend/classmate while I was seeking my MFA at Illinois State University and respectively she was pursuing her BA in Art too. Our paths crossed a few times between gallery openings and school functions and then eventually I moved from Bloomington to KC and Lindsay headed to Texas, but we never lost contact with each other.

When I first got the text asking me if I was up for photographing her and Travis’s wedding Peoria- I jumped on it. I knew from the very beginning that this wedding was going to be something spectacular and I could not wait to learn more! We had chatted about all of the plans while squeezing in their engagement session while they were home and while I was also back in IL visiting family in the spring.

Fast forward to their wedding and let me tell you as we approached that week- life certainly through some doozies my way at home but I didn’t let that stop me. I got in my car and headed to Peoria. Now the weatherman was predicting epic storms and as I always promise my clients I am always determined to find the perfect location to capture their portraits… even if I have to wade through torrential rains to find it off of a few recommendations from friends. We found Hoerr’s Nursery in Peoria! Now granted it was a few miles further than they had wanted to travel- but I am so thankful to their amazing staff and for the adventurous spirit of Lindsay and Travis- we made it there and it was by far. It was the most perfect location for the two of them. Not to mention it was predicted to the storm. I mean they had a tornado warning during their rehearsal dinner- so it was a pretty wile weather weekend. But on their wedding day- the skies were clear with some clouds and it was perfect! We were able to spend a good chunk of time at the nursery before heading back to the Stoney Creek Conference Center for their ceremony and reception.
