A Romantic Summer Chicago Rooftop Wedding at the Hidden Goat

When Mary contacted me about her wedding at the Hidden Goat in Chicago’s West Loop- I was literally so excited. They are two incredibly kind and compassionate people. Plus.. their day.. sounded like the most amazing day/night ever! There is one thing about small weddings that I absolutely love and it’s that you get to know each and every guest at the wedding throughout the night and you often feel like family. That is what happened at Marcus and Mary’s wedding at the Hidden Goat! It was like I had known them both for years..from the moment I met them in person until I left them dancing the night away on the rooftop in Chicago.

One thing I love is that small intimate weddings allow for your planning to be focused on your guests and their experience. I am going to share some tips of things to do when planning your small wedding below.

Tips for planning your Small Wedding in Chicago

  1. Remember “Less is More” This allows for your wedding to focus on you, your partner and your guests.

  2. Personalization: Small elegant weddings keep it simple. Quality over quantity — from food and beverage to design and the guest count. Couples host their celebrations where no detail is spared, and a budget can be spent on higher-impact items. It is a gift to have unlimited flexibility in planning, customizing, and choosing every element of a unique intimate wedding.

  3. You get to relax and enjoy the company of your guests. You have the freedom to enjoy more and focus on the smaller details and take the day in. There is more of a no stress feel that allows for the ebbs and flows of the day to just happen.

  4. Small weddings generally have 50 guests or less.. but that doesn’t mean you can’t share the day with your friends and family who aren’t in attendance.. You can still have that virtual component to share with everyone.

  5. Small Intimate Weddings allow for you to choose your venue that has meaning. In Marcus and Mary’s story- Marcus is a foodie and he really wanted the menu to be a focal point in their celebration. And let me tell you.. their menu is my most favorite wedding menu to date! It was simply delicious. If you are ever in Chicago go check out The Girl and the Goat or one of their many restaurants.
