The Summit Future Foundation

When I moved to Kansas City almost five years ago.. I was on facebook one day and responded to a post about a need for a photographer to capture some images at a local children’s gym for special needs. I responded to the post and who knew that almost 5 years later I would still be working with Cassidi Jobe on all of her amazing things.

In graduate school I did a documentary project on my sister Kaitlin and that evolved into a partnership with my sister and then I moved to Kansas City. Which made it a little more complex to continue because she was in Illinois and I was in Kansas City. However… I have always had a place in my heart for advocacy for individuals with special needs and in my heart because they are amazing individuals. ( I mean my sister is pretty bad ass) and it was perfect that I had stumbled upon Cassidi’s post long ago..

I have documented Cassidi and her family for christmas card photos and her sons both are super amazing individuals. I have really enjoyed watching them grow up. If you want to see some artwork you should check out her son Parker- and his pottery. Parker is happiest when he is playing in the all the clay. Preston is a super runner… that kid loves to run. If you know me.. I don’t run. So I am always impressed at his stellar running skills.

Side note: If you are in KC and are worried about getting your family photos because you have a special needs family member or as I like to say a super star family member- reach out to me. I totally understand what it is like with all the fears, worries, concerns, questions, and if there is one thing I believe in my business is that everyone deserves photographs. I promise to take the time to make sure we capture your family even if we have to try again another day.

One of the many reasons I love helping the Summit Future Foundation on their mission is it allows me to tell their members stories and to document their successes as they flourish as individuals in our community and I am always happy to help capture all the amazing things that Cassidi and the board are doing to lift them up.

I am so thankful that Cassidi took the leap to create the Summit Future Foundation right here in Kansas City. It’s mission is so impactful because “they believe that all individuals, regardless of their ability level, have the right to lead a meaningful like that includes employment and being an active participant in their community.”

I have been privileged to be able to follow some of their member’s around town who have participated in their Watch Me Thrive program, Empower Me Summer Day Camp, their Bourbon and Bell Event, and so much more.

It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to help and support such an amazing organization. If you are interested in volunteering- you can check them out at www.summitfuturefoundation.org or at facebook.com/summitfuturefoundation or you can email them at info@summitfuturefoundation.org
