Rockford Illinois Dream Wedding
In the midst of the pandemic Christina and Lucas were planning their 2021 wedding. They had recently moved to North Carolina from the Rockford, IL area and were planning their wedding back home. A mutual friend of ours connected us and it was instant friendship. Christina and Lucas are two amazing individuals and we just clicked. It’s like we knew each other for years….
Which to me is always a plus.. when you are hiring your wedding photographer.. you should hire someone you click with! As I was editing their wedding gallery I relieved some of my most favorite moments of their wedding day.. which included.. the part where Lucas’s ring left the Maid of Honor’s finger sometime during the ceremony… and Christina had to use her brother-in-laws wedding ring as a placeholder… ( fun fact.. the ring was under her dress). We stopped by a local Cherry Valley favorite to grab some ice cream on our way to the reception… and had a good laugh about Lucas’ choice of Blue Ice Cream…I mean.. at least his tongue matched his suit…
If you know me.. you know I love a good hometown wedding. There is something about heading back to the Rockford area to capture a beautiful wedding in Pecatonica and then venturing over to Baumann Park… ( a place where I have wonderful memories laughing with my friends recreating the Sound of Music…) And Christina and Lucas’s wedding was just that.. a beautifully romantic dream wedding in the Rockford area.
9 PLACES FOR BRIDAL PARTY PHOTOS IN THE GREATER ROCKFORD AREA
Downtown Rockford: Y’all it doesn’t get much more picturesque than downtown Rockford. The mix of the riverfront with the historic downtown area… is a must. Some of my favorite spots include the City Market area, Jefferson St Bridge and then a few alleyway down state street. The PLUS is.. You don’t need a permit!
Bauman Park is a beautiful place. It has that stellar nature visual with the lake in middle. There is ample shade and even a little bit of a view of the Kishwaukee River.
Rock Valley College.. believe it or not has some lovely areas to capture your wedding party.. From Starlight Theatre to the pond and over by the Student Center.. will be sure not to disappoint. If you are heading over to Starlight for your photos.. make sure to contact the Theatre Department to ask permission.. just in case there is a performance going on.
Downtown Beloit.. is also a wonderful small urban adventure land. Like downtown Rockford.. there are some stellar spots to capture your wedding party
The Murals in downtown Belvidere.. I mean.. what could be better than capturing your bridal portraits amongst some stellar art… and you can also stop for ice cream along the way.
Midway Village…( where my wedding was at).. You DO NEED A PERMIT.. to access the grounds.. but you will surely have some stellar photographs in their historic museum center grounds.
The Nicholas Conservatory is another gem.. that requires a permit.. but it is totally worth it. It’s a beautiful spot if its raining.. the green house is a great cover too.
Anderson Gardens I mean what could be better than the most beautiful gardens in the Rockford area… They do require a permit and permission for wedding party portraits.. but it won’t disappoint either.
Klehm Arboretum is another great garden spot. Make sure you reach out to them to get approval and a permit for your wedding photos.
