Planning your Engagement Session

Congratulations!!! You Are engaged!!!

Let the planning and excitement begin!

I know it can be a daunting task as your start to think about all of the planning. This is why I wanted to offer up a few quick tips to help ease your mind about planning your engagement session and of course as your know I am always here to help guide you along the way.

When you are deciding the location of your shoot, you’ll first want to choose whether you want the spot to be meaningful, fun, or a little mix of both. If you’d like it to be a little more meaningful to you and your significant other, start with a list of favorite memories of places that you’ve been and share them with your photographer. That way we can help guide you in case there are any added fees or requirements for the places. We can also then help navigate the best lighting for those locations.

The next step is to figure out what time of year you want your photos to take place. Are you looking to include Fall foliage? A Winter wonderland? Fun in the Summer sun? Or the start to the blossoming spring. What suits you both best? If you are wanting a snowy wonderland then some flexibility may be on the calendar ( since we are in Missouri and the weather is constantly changing).

Then, start thinking of what kind of environment you’re looking for- classy, rustic, urban, city-life, nature-based… the options are endless! This is where the ideas of favorite locations come to play. It might help you narrow down your dream spot.

Choosing a few outfits doesn’t have to be a difficult task! First and foremost, we recommend choosing something you’re comfortable in, and something that’s appropriate for the location you’ve chosen. You want to represent your truest selves, so don’t stress it! When in doubt send your photographer (me) lots ideas of what you are wanting to wear. I love helping my couples design their perfect session.

Though it’s fun to be pampered, if dolling up your hair and make-up isn’t your jam, don’t do any drastic cuts or colors before your session. A little glam can go a long way! We want you to look your best and feel like you!
